“DISCLAIMER: An album getting honored with a 10 out of 10 is not to be looked upon lightly (nor the album or the actual scoring). In an attempt of trying to explain what a rare occasion this is, I’ll use my Discogs-collection as an example: Out of 1504 albums listed (at the moment), only 27 are listed with top scoring. 27 ⁄1504 albums  gives a percentage of 0,018% in my collection being the best of the best (Fuck, that sounds little since I love most of the stuff in my collection). Well, enough of this bullshit since I guess you get what I am aiming at. Now over to the real topic at hand.”

When Swedish death metal really bloomed out during the early 90’s, I was one of the spotted youngsters that spent his time after school at “fritidsgården” (community youth center) talking about metal and whatnot. Even tried my luck as a growler in what still today must be one of the worst bands that ever emerged from Northern Sweden (and we’ll leave it at that). I’m loosing focus once again, back to the early 90’s and the the boom of bands that surfaced. Many of these bands continued on breaking through, not only in Sweden but worldwide, and I guess we all know that I’m referring to bands such as Entombed, Dismember, Grave, Unleashed etc. Unfortunately Sorcery wasn’t one of these bands.

22 years later, Sorcery are back with their sequel to “Bloodchilling Tales” (1991) and it is if as time has stood still. “Arrival at Six” is a fantastic piece of of Swedish Death Metal, delivered exactly the way I like it (and remember it). Of course I’ve enjoyed a lot of today’s retro-old-school death metal acts such as:  Entrails, Feral, Tormented, Morbus Chron, Mr. Death etc., but none have really unleashed the feelings I get when I blast Sorcery’s Arrival at Six“. It’s like a perfect blend of bands such as  Dismember, Entombed, Unleashed and Furbowl with a sound picture taken straight out of the 90’s (Sunlight Studios). I salute thee!!

Recommended tracks: We who walk among The Dead / Created from Darkness and Rage / Master of the Chains / United Satanic Alliance / Arrival at Six / Warbringer / Maculated Life / Beyond the Wall / Reborn Through Hate
